If I could bottle and sell the way I feel this week I would be a millionaire.
Ritz Carlton, Dubai - my dream came true…
There are so many wonderful humans on Earth!
This week has been utterly incredible on every level. We are doing everything we can to launch the new website; the first Wedding Vlog in the region AND stay alive! I say stay alive because food hasn't been looked at as a necessity lately (!) and sleep is a luxury I simply can’t afford. Weirdly I’ve never felt so alive, probably thanks to my intravenous coffee drip; Chanel foundation and Huda Beauty Highlighter!
I’ve been given the gargantuan honour of becoming the preferred Wedding Planner for The Ritz Carlton, Dubai which was added to my ‘wish board’ over a year ago along with a week on Necker Island and a million YouTube views before the end of 2018. Here’s hoping the rest get ticked off ahead of time!
My loyal girl-gang have stepped up to the plate and hit a number of home-runs. My husband, my family, my inner circle. They’re all my Oxygen and have made the launch possible.
The week started with the first round of Website edits. I am the least paperwork oriented human on Earth. I would much rather have a PA slash T crosser and I dotter but sadly that's a luxury I can’t afford at the moment. I always struggle with aiming for perfection - but the lesson I took away from Mondays session with Alan Berg ‘Done is Better than Perfect’ so my little website is going live on Sunday without fail. Warts and all!
I attended my first weddingsonline.ae summit on Monday. They brought Alan Berg ex Vice President of Sales for The Knot as their keynote speaker. His extensive sales and marketing experience resonated with me based on our mutual publishing backgrounds. The Knot & National Geographic Traveller hold their respect in both Wedding and Travel Industries cross-global. I thoroughly enjoyed his refreshing approach to advising us on our business models and identifying where we may be able to advance our offerings to clients. I may have also enjoyed winning two prizes that day! One was entirely lucky - the other thanks to my incredibly loyal Instagram following. Weddings Online selected My Dubai Wedding based on the awesome Instagram Stories which were viewed over 3,000 times! I won a real treat! A wonderful Dinner for two at Quattro Passi, Five Palm Jumeirah for hubby and I to have a romantic meal on a day I leave my office in time for dinner! Thank you awesome Insta-Family. Then there’s the book I won If Your Website was on Employee would you Fire it? (what a sensational name for a book). I have started reading it but I am worried my mantra ‘Done is Better than Perfect’ would unravel (and I'd end up delaying the launch off for another few months) so I have decided I will return to Bookworm-ing after Sunday. After all - the Website can be tweaked as I progress along this beautiful journey.
I saw some wonderful faces at the Dubai Wedding Summit: Waldorf Astoria, The Palm; Sofitel The Palm; Emaar Hotels & Resorts; Pret a Papier; Firenze Floral; Burj Al Arab; The Bridal Showroom and Zaya Nurai Island. Time has been super limited the last few months so being able to have a catch up with friendly faces in one room is a wonderful opportunity and made me feel far less guilty taking a 10 hour holiday from my current routine! I did, however, return to the office at 9pm and worked until the birds woke up to catch up on the enquiries and vlog/ website edits.
I went to meet with Waldorf Astoria, The Palm as well as Little Birdy Group on Wednesday. The Waldorf team are an absolute breath of fresh air. A gorgeous property on The Palm. I’m excited to be planning a Vlog for October. Little Birdy Group - distributers of Kate Spade Bridal (and other delightful brands) and I are going to run a wonderful competition on My Dubai Wedding TV for a hamper including beautiful cards a wedding diary planner and paraphernalia that make any brides journey to marriage easier! I met with Sofitel The Palm who are super excited to be hosting us for a day of filming in October. I am so pleased our favourite venues are welcoming us with open arms. It is going to make your Wedding research so much easier.
Then there was yesterday. My meeting with Ritz Carlton, Dubai. I cannot praise this team enough and will be working very closely with them over the course of the next few years as they have selected My Dubai Wedding as their preferred Wedding Partner. We have some incredible ideas to showcase over the course of the next few months and we are elated to be working on some brilliant new concepts as well as travelling together to see our prospective clients. Ritz Carlton Dubai and My Dubai Wedding are a pretty unstoppable team. I cannot shout his praises enough. Every Wedding we plan together is magic and for that reason I am excited for the Wedding Wonderlands we are going to bring to life together during the course of this incredible season.
In the next few days we will reveal a Behind the Scenes Vlog at one of our Ritz Carlton Weddings. EXCITING STUFF!
